Ngugi wa Thiong'o is distinguished professor of English and comparative literature at the University of California, Irvine. He is the author of many books, including The River Between, Petals of Blood, Wizard of the Crow, and Decolonizing the Mind. Sunandini Banerjee is a Calcutta-based graphic artist and editor who has illustrated books by Thomas Bernhard, Yves Bonnefoy, Ivan Vladislavic, Cees Nooteboom, and Easterine Kire, among others.
